Is Facebook Becoming the Walmart of Social Media?
Many of us know that when a Walmart moves into town, other small businesses shut down. Walmart provides the convenience of finding all of your clothing, grocery and household needs in one place – and at a great price! Why shop anywhere else?

Facebook appears to be headed down a similar path. It seems like Facebook adds a new feature almost every week! Facebook used to be a simple online network that allowed friends to keep in touch. Today, you can use Facebook to chat, send messages, store and share photos and videos, create company profiles, play games, shop and even send e-mails! Why go to Photobucket or Picasa when you can create an album on Facebook? Why use Craigslist when you can use the Marketplace? Why use Quora when you can use Questions? And now Facebook is in the process of releasing Deals which is expected to easily compete with Groupon and LivingSocial!
Is Facebook trying to become the Walmart of social media? In other words, are they trying to become the one-stop shop for all of your online social needs? Do you think Facebook has the power to continuously dominate other social media websites? Five years from now, where do you think other social media sites will stand in comparison to Facebook? Will any other social networking sites ever be able to compete?
Feel free to share your thoughts below!
